Call your babysitter because it’s time for an adults-only night out in San Diego! Balboa Park is kicking out the kids after dark for a nightlife centric array of events featuring live music, cocktails, art and socializing. Once you unpack your bags at your centrally located and affordable San Diego Airport hotel, don’t waste any time hopping into a taxi and heading to Balboa Park!

Here are three events happening in San Diego’s Balboa Park, located next to the Gaslamp Quarter, that you should pencil into your vacation schedule:

  • The San Diego Museum of Arts in Balboa Park is getting ready for their next Culture and Cocktails event on February 20. This 21+ event turns the museum into a social mixer where the city’s young up and comers mix and mingle. The museum will be decked out with a DJ booth, lighting effects, performances and interactive exhibits. Guests can walk around the museum with a cocktail while viewing famous South Asian Art amidst Bollywood dancers, a Henna body art station and a slow motion photo booth. Expert mixologists will be on hand to prepare a Mumbai Mule Cocktail for you or you can nibble on some sweets at the colorful candy booth. Tickets to this event, which starts at 6 pm, are free for SDMA members and $20 for non-members.
  • The Rock in the Park concert series began with a bang this month all in celebration of the new guitar exhibit at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Stop by from 7 to 10 pm on select Fridays through March to enjoy a guitar-heavy rock concert. Each show will feature two performances, food made available by The French Gourmet, a no-host bar and access to the museums exhibits. The February 21 concert will feature multiple musicians in a tribute show to celebrate beloved local weatherman Loren Nancarrow. On March 7th rock out with Venice and Michael Tiernan or catch their last show on March 21st with a special surprise guest. Tickets are $25 in advance online and $30 at the door.
  • Do you like beer? If so, you can’t miss the annual San Diego Winter Brewfest on February 22. Plan ahead for a day full of drinking and reserve a room at a cheap hotel near Gaslamp Quarter before purchasing your Winter Brewfest ticket. Tickets will include access to some of the best local craft beer, a souvenir glass and concerts performed by Headshine and Soda Pants. If you want to take your beer tasting experience to the next level, purchase the VIP ticket for entrance into the festival an hour early with a special cheese and beer pairing. If purchased in advance, general admission tickets are $50 and VIP tickets are $60. All of the action will be taking place in The Hall of Champions in Balboa Park from 6 to 10 pm. Food trucks will also be rolling up to prepare some gourmet goods on the go for starving beer guzzlers.
