The San Diego Health & Fitness Expo will take place May 30 and 31 at the San Diego Convention Center. The two day event will be packed with over 80 exhibitors and demonstrations designed to enhance your healthy life. The expo is put on in conjunction with the San Diego Rock n’ Roll Marathon, which kicks off at 6:15 AM on Sunday, June 1. Expect downtown San Diego delays as over 30,000 pairs of jogging shoe clad feet swarm the streets along with road closures which will surely impact driving conditions on race day. For a complete list of road and freeway closures visit the race website at runrocknroll.competitor.com. A surefire way to beat the traffic is to make reservations at one of the city’s cheap San Diego convention center hotels.
Once visitors make it into the Expo inside the San Diego Convention Center, they’ll be treated to a vast array of health-inspired fun. Products on display will include the very latest in running shoes, athletic apparel, health and nutrition products and much more.
Speakers and Demonstrations
Every 30 minutes on Friday and Saturday, starting at 12:30 PM on Friday, and 10 AM Saturday, expo attendees will be able to meet and hear from some of America’s running champions, including past winners of the Boston Marathon and staff from Competitor Magazine. World class marathoners will explain ways to find a balance with family life and the grueling training the marathoners undergo.
Before and After the Expo
With the convention center’s location in San Diego’s famous Gaslamp Quarter – consisting of 16 blocks of restored historical buildings housing restaurants, shops, and nightspots – you might consider extending your vacation in San Diego to include some of the nearby sights, attractions and nightlife. There are plenty of cheap hotels in downtown San Diego offering extended stay discounts
Just need to relax? On the bayside of the convention center, you’ll find the Embarcadero Marina Park South complete with bike and hiking paths, exercise stations, picnic tables, gazebos, concessions stand and a fishing pier.
Hours, Tickets, Parking
Doors to the fit expo open at 11 a.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. on Saturday, with early entry available to “TourPass” purchasers, otherwise admission to the expo is free.
Parking at the convention center is $15; however, alternative parking locations are available throughout downtown San Diego in nearby parking garages for a similar fee.
As traffic to and around the convention center is expected to be congested both days during the expo, San Diego public transportation can make your day less stressful.
