Top Animal Attractions at the San Diego Zoo
Any day is a great day to spend with family at the San Diego Zoo. The zoo has many attractions to enjoy and with more than 4,000 different animals on display, it is no surprise that the best part of the zoo is the many animal exhibits. Not sure which exhibits to start with? The Marina Inn is a top choice for San Diego Zoo hotels and offers a list of our favorite animal exhibits!
For visitors who want an up-close view of the animals at the zoo, the Discovery Outpost Children’s Zoo is the place to go. The area is home to a petting zoo, an insect and reptile house, giant tortoises and a hummingbird house. After checking out all the various animals, head over to the play area where children can have fun while their parents relax.
Another animal attraction and one of the most popular is the Panda Canyon. Take a walk on the Panda Trek through Panda Canyon to see the bamboo forest of China that is home to the Giant Panda. While the Giant Panda is the main attraction, don’t forget to check out the many Red Pandas, along with the other colorful animals that reside there.
No matter what your height, you’ll sure be amazed by the Giraffes at the San Diego Zoo. Giraffes are one of the tallest animals and you can see them, along with many other African animals at the Urban Jungle exhibit. The Outback Koala can also be found in the Urban Jungle, an exhibit that has been a big attraction since 1925!
Finally, one of our other top animal exhibits is the Northern Frontier, home to the large polar bears. There are also interactive elements such as comparing your size to a polar bear, crawling through a polar bear den, and 4-D models of how the arctic ice has changed through the years. Not only is it fun watching the polar bears play, the Northern Frontier proves to be a great educational exhibit.
