Attractions near Horton Plaza
While a trip to Horton Plaza is a must while staying in downtown San Diego, it might be difficult to spend the entire day at the shopping complex. Fortunately, within blocks of the Horton Plaza shopping mall are many other attractions and activities in which visitors can enjoy.
The Marina Inn hotel near Horton Plaza Mall has created a short list of some of our guests’ favorite places to visit near the mall. From restaurants to downtown activities, there are plenty of things to do to help fill your afternoon in the downtown district.
- Shout House – After spending the afternoon at Horton Plaza Mall, head over to the popular Shout House restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter. While there are many restaurants to choose from, Shout House is one of a kind, serving as both a restaurant during the day and a music venue later in the evening. The Shout House frequently invites local bands and musicians to perform, creating an energizing atmosphere for out of town visitors to enjoy.
- East Village Tavern and Bowl – This downtown bowling alley is a great place to bowl with friends and family. In addition to lanes, the bowling alley also serves food in their main dining room and has a full bar. And if you want to save time, you can order snacks and drinks that will be brought your lane so you can enjoy your favorite dishes as you bowl. A bit more modern than your average bowling alley, the East Village Tavern and Bowl fits right in with the surrounding downtown district.
- Altitude Sky Lounge – Rated one of the best rooftop lounges and bars in the city, those of age must check out the Altitude Sky Lounge. Situated in the heart of downtown San Diego, you can see panoramic views of the city skyline and the home of the Padres, Petco Park. With no cover, great music, specialty cocktails and a fire pit, Altitude Sky Lounge invites visitors to watch the sun set from its patio.
- Pepper Grove Park – On the border of the downtown district and Little Italy sits this quaint park, perfect for vacationing families. With two play structures and plenty of space to run around, Pepper Grove Park is a favorite among locals and visitors with young kids. Sometimes on vacation, we get caught up in packing our schedules with tourist attractions and overlook some of the smaller, just as rewarding local activities. Check out Pepper Grove Park and don’t forget to stop at the Ice Cream truck that is frequently parked nearby as you leave.
