With the month of March only a few days away, spring is in the air! If you’re planning a trip to San Diego for spring break or a weekend getaway, there are countless things to do from visiting top attractions like the Zoo and SeaWorld to roaming the streets of historic neighborhoods such as at the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy. Yes, these activities are fun all year-round, but what San Diego destination can’t be missed by springtime visitors? Balboa Park!
This month, we’re highlighting San Diego’s Balboa Park as our must-see attraction. This urban outdoor park, located minutes from our cheap downtown San Diego hotel, is filled with winding pathways, rolling hillsides and lush tropical gardens that come alive in the spring. In fact, the natural beauty of the park is so breathtaking, an entire tour has been dedicated to exploring the brilliant spring blossoms.
There are rotating tour themes including Balboa Park History, palm trees, other trees in the park, desert vegetation and tour del dia, each highlighting the unique botanical offerings that thrive during the season. Other destinations within the park that you won’t want to miss are the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden, overflowing with more than 2,500 roses, and the Alcazar Garden which has won national awards for its intricate composition of floral designs.
